Deadline: Monday, Dec. 6 by 3PM

In the comments section of this post, you must add the required elements to make a teaser. A URL to the teaser image (../beat/beat-lastname-tzr.jpg), a headline for your story, a summary (no more than 45 words) and the URL you want it to link to (typically either index.html or beat-lastname.html)

Again, the elements are:

- URL to the 200x125 image

- The headline

- The sumamry

- The URL to the story

The specs for your final project:

> Write a text main bar that is at least 700 words long... no longer than 900 words
> *An audio slideshow, preferably an "in-their-own-words"
> *A webby/interactive element
> Plus layout and code story onto the class template.
> Upload your package, including all elements, to class site
So, that is a mainbar, audio slideshow, a Webby element and design/coding your page.
You will take you new, original content plus your related content from throughout the semester (weekly assignments and midterm) and put it onto a class site HTML page. You will determine how your content is best presented by the design/layout of your page.

* At this stage, every story is different so you can pitch me an alternative content element. But I must approve it before you do it.

WARNING: There will be no second chances here for spelling, broken links or lateness. Please make sure to check your work prior to deadline. You are encouraged to turn in drafts prior to deadline for feedback.

Midterm | Details [Slides] [Template]
http://elprofe.me/usc/2010/309/midterm/

For your midterm, write a text main bar that is at least 600 words long... no longer than 800 words. Do one “in-their-own-words” audio slideshow (absolutely no narration). Do either a video that includes the BBC 5-shot, in the correct sequence, or a Webby element that offers the user a two-minute experience.

Put all your different elements/packages onto this template. Rename the title, headline, byline, etc. of this HTML document. And rename this HTML file as midterm-first initial last name.html EXAMPLE: midterm-rhernandez.html

Upload to your ascjweb.org server.

I will be grading the overall story, the quality of the individual packages, the quality of the individual elements inside packages (photos, audio, editing, captions, etc.) and how everything works together.

Of course I will be also checking spelling, grammar, AP Style and general HTML code. Do not let these little mistakes kill your grade. Read the syllabus for details.

Deadline is 9AM, Monday Oct. 18. You will be posting your URLs in the comments of THIS blog post.

NOTE: How do you embed a soundeslide? Go to this URL: http://tinyurl.com/ssembed and paste in the URL of your uploaded audio slideshow. Resize the audio slideshow to 500x430 ... you’ll see that option after you click on "continue" ... it’s at the bottom.

NOTE: How do you get this HTML file? Euther view source, select all and paste all into an HTML editor. Or do a right mouse button click on this link and 'Download' or 'Save Link' as.
