I'll just post my con report link here, because if I typed it all out again, it
would be quite painful. http://reihari.deviantart.com/journal/23951957/ my first year at animarathon and I LOVED IT! I'm making animarathon a regular con of mine, I'll be back next year! |

Oh my god, it was absolutely amazing. I am a first time Con goer, but long time
anime fan. Well, as far as memories go, the entire experience was memorable.
There was a specific panel whit a somewhat angry and commanding leader that
didn't really turn out that well but everything else was great. I really regret
that I did not cosplay. The guy dressed up as a working tetris gameboy was
really cool. I wish the karaoke had gone on a little longer as well. I think a
few of the events should have stayed open during the raffle for the people who
did not buy raffle tickets as they seemed to just make a fuss and drive the
people who were there with tickets crazy. Does anyone know which fansubber
group was actually responsible for translating the screenings in the fansubber
room? At first the Con seemed large and overbearing but after walking around a bit and learning where things are it was a lot easier to traverse. No matter what time it was there was always somewhere to go and something to do, even if it was just walking around telling people how awesome their cosplays were. I will absolutely attend this next year! @Timman87: I remember seeing your friend break dance. It was pretty cool just a little out of control lol. |

@Yeshkla: You know what, I might've been in that specific panel myself. From
what I recall, she didn't accept differing opinions easily. But to counter
that, I think the Mecha Control Panel leader ran an excellent panel. (Un)Fortunately, there was so much to do I couldn't hit any more panels! I mean, thats a great thing, its just at the same time its like "Oh man, I wonder what I missed here..." Its that kind of teasing (Im talking to you Animarathon Staff) that'll have me returning next year. |

I had to sit in on the Shounen-Ai panel after the unfortunate incident with the
scared family and 18+ material (to check that everyone was of age and all that)
and it was hysterical. The girl who ran it didn't have a voice after the
concert, and someone in the room suggested everyone read the PowerPoint out
loud in unison. Hilarity ensued. And many adorable pictures were to be
had. I love how cooperative the attendees are, I haven't had many problems at all that aren't easily fixed in both years I've staffed. ^^v Kudos to you guys! |

I was actually a little disappointed in the Shonen panel this year. I've been
to the last three and this one was sort of a let down. Nothing against the girl
who ran it, she was a good host even with her not having a voice. I just had a
problem with the lack of any discussion and the very short presentation. Most
of the couples in the presentation were very young, and the ones that were
older couples were fan art that was drawn to make them look very young or
dressed as girls. Even canon couples that you could find official pictures for
were shown as fan art that made them look "cute". They showed a youtube video
of Digimon where the kids in it look twelve. Since the girl had no voice, after her presentation it would have been cool if she would have had the fans tell who their favorite pairings were and why. I drive from Michigan every year since this is the only con i am able to make, and this panel is always the biggest reason I come. This year I left after the digimon video. First time since coming to this con I have not stayed through the whole panel. My suggestion for next year is just to have a longer presentation and have more fan interaction. I also agree with the suggestion with having something open for people that don't go to the raffle. I was also upset that the link to the schedule was never fixed. Since my hubby and I have 3 kids we like to plan ahead on what were going to go to so we know how early we have to get a babysitter. Plus the program we got had panels listed that had been canceled and we were not aware. |

At the cosplay contest when we were told not to push the big red button in
front of each of our seats, that's not something you tell a bunch of anime
freaks XD

Hm, my favorite memories is seeing my anime freak friends every year, and
dressing as someone new. >.> Also even though not one of my favorite
parts, is the cold. Cosplaying Winry last year in the cold not one of my
brighter plans. XD But soo worth it!

My favorite memory had to be when a hyper Naruto approched me (I was a Sakura
cosplayer) and insited that I did a picture with him of me punching him in the
face. Haha then his friend filmed a video of it... ''-_- lol My friend just
laughed and laughed... Then my friend asked a vendor if they had any friends for a toy he had been carrying around from the Happy Meal he had gotten. "Hey do you guys have a nice friend for Rolling Betty?" Good times... good times... ♥ |

Combining Dealers Room + Artist Alley has great idea written all over! From what I recall, the Artist Alley last year seemed lonely compared to the Dealers Room. But then putting them together...hooray for everybody!
Overflow rooms were great idea. No more crowding, suffocating in tiny room! LOL at the Silent Hill skit, appealing to my interests of internet memes. And the dance skit was great too! (Sry other skits, I went to and fro from cosplay to karaoke room as they occurred simultaneously)
I think the gentleman running the Mech Control Systems Panel did a great job, even with the all around answer being "Neural Controls" and "Evangelion". Someone did mention using foot pedals as well as hand controls and it wasnt til 2 hours later I remembered that ep of Megas XLR where he controlled his giant robot via Dance Dance Revolution.
Game Show. Hilarious. Host. Hilarious. Boob Category scaring family away. PRICELESS.
Raffle - I wish they called off more 983's and less of Game Show Host guy. But very awesome prizes this year. Even though I didnt win this year, it still beats my last year prize of "Yu-Gi-Oh Pencil Pak." (Not to sound ungrateful but...that eraser didnt even work)
OMG, the dance! (Besides that unfortunate incident...kudos to the paramedics!) The dance starts, everybodys all "Oh I dont wanna stand out just yet, I'll jump around with my friends...."
My buddy Mark just busts out the breakdance, almost wiping out a couple ppl. Huge circle forms and eventually engulfs him into the biggest GLOMP of Con history! This was his first Con (and he's barely an anime fan) but the ride home, he's completely glad I dragged him out.
If you were a part of the glomp/breakdance and want to befriend him (or share your anime recommendations cuz he doesnt know much anime but now wants learn of our ways) then http://dwolv.deviantart.com/
Now that its over, its back to normal life for me.
Besides my buddy Mark and other friend Casey, all my other friends are...um...normal. Instead of "Hey Tim, teach me the Haruhi dance" it'll be "Hey Tim, whats the score on the Cavs game?"
So thank you mods/admins/staff of Animarathon. For one day a year you let me jump out of my anime closet full force, Sakabatou in one hand, Giant Robot control in the other, all donning a sailor outfit. You, Animarathon Staff, are the giant alien tentacled monster that has its way with me for 14 hours, leaving me soaked in otaku dirt, and filling my heart with mixed feelings as I shower it all away. Congratulations on another success and I cant wait til next year.
"So, until we meet again, stay gold. Bang"
