Hello! First, thank you for this forum. Ein Gedi is a most important site and study of archaeology there should add much of value to our understanding of the people and events of the region. I joined this forum to ask questions and my first concerns the presence in Ein Gedi of the Herodian ruling dynasty - is there any evidence of this and if so, what? I have read that there may be a Herodian palace, or fortress. Thank you and best regards, John

Hi, The answer to your first question is most probably yes, there was a village. Second, there is remains of public building of Hasmonean-Herodian times – not yet excavated. Regards, Gideon
