I just came across this curculio trap today and would like to know if anyone has ever used on or seen one in use? Here's the link to a photo: (http://entomology.uark.edu/PyramidtrapMar2002.jpg). I'm finding credit given to Dr. Mark Whalon at Michigan State University (http://whalonlab.msu.edu/) for its success. They are about four feet tall and use plum essence as a lure. It's used as part of a push/pull strategy, where they've used Surround on the trees and set out the traps where curculio pressure is heaviest. Seems like sometimes they just remove the curcs and other times they've sprayed with Pyganic. Their reports show significant reductions in curculio damage at harvest. I know we have a thread on trap trees, but wanted to share this trapping idea.

Ron Prokopy and Tracy Lesky lab did a lot of trials with these. They have some value for monitoring but not effective as a trap out tool. - Glen Koehler
