Volunteer Agreement and Commitment
This agreement is made for good consideration among the
Natural Solutions Foundation – US, a Nevada nonprofit, exempt corporation and
Natural Solutions Foundation – Panama, a private interest foundation, the
Trustees of each (all herein, NSF), and the undersigned Volunteer or Intern
(herein, Volunteer) with regard to volunteering at the Valley of the Moon Eco
Demonstration projects (herein, VotM). The undersigned agree:
1. The relationship between the Volunteer and NSF is that
of independent contractors, governed by this Agreement and any Volunteer Rules
consistent with this Agreement promulgated by the Trustees from time to time
and posted on the Volunteer Web Site, www.NatSol.org
or the Volunteer Forum linked from there.
2. The Volunteer is responsible for transportation to VotM
and from VotM at the end of the Volunteer Term. The Volunteer Term, based on
current Panamanian Tourist Visa rules, is 90 days and may be extended by mutual
consent consistent with Panamanian rules and regulations.
3. VotM is responsible for room and board for the
Volunteer during the Volunteer Term. Transportation will be available between
the VotM sites on an as needed, as available basis. NSF has appointed a
Volunteer Coordinator who is the interface between VotM and the Volunteers. Volunteers may not conduct their own business activities involving other Volunteers or members of the VotM community; such activities are inconsistent with Volunteer Commitment and will result in immediate dismissal.
4. Volunteers are expected to comport themselves always
as the good will ambassadors of VotM and must not engage in any illegal,
immoral or inappropriate behavior. Violations of this Agreement or the
Volunteer Rules is grounds for immediate termination of the Volunteer. The
Volunteer Coordinator’s instructions and determinations are binding on the
Volunteer who may appeal any termination decision to the Trustees for review.
5. Volunteers are expected to keep the Volunteer Housing
clean, neat and orderly. Volunteers are responsible for cleaning the Volunteer
House and maintaining the grounds. Decisions among the Volunteers regarding
housing matters should be made by consensus and if consensus cannot be
reasonably achieved, by the Volunteer Coordinator.
6.
On average, Volunteers should provide five eight hour days per week to VotM as
instructed by the Volunteer Coordinator. It is expected that Volunteers will
engage socially with the VotM community during off-hours on a reasonable basis,
to continue the development of a community spirit. Volunteers with their own
laptop computers may have Internet access at the Headquarters Finca in Volcan
or at the Volunteer Housing if available. If available, other Volunteers may
share a designated Internet access computer.
7. The Volunteers and Interns hereby indemnify and hold
NSF harmless from all claims arising from their participation in the Volunteer
In Service Program. Disputes arising from this Agreement or among the
Volunteers shall be subject to mediation and binding Arbitration. If Volunteers
have a dispute, they shall inform the Volunteer Coordinator who will seek to
mediate the matter. If that fails, the Volunteer Coordinator may determine the
matter and any party may appeal to the Trustees for a final, binding determination.
If there is a dispute between a Volunteer and VotM, the parties shall seek to
resolve it by mediation by any mutually agreeable mediator. Failing such
resolution, the matter shall be referred to a three-member Arbitration Panel
appointed by the Trustees which shall make a final binding determination. Any final
decision may be enforced in any tribunal of competent jurisdiction.
