I have been patiently awaiting the knight factions, but now I am told that the knights do not wish to have these factions. Are we still going to have them? I was hoping for a way to be a knight at the palace.

We're told that it's still going to happen, but many knights just choose not to make a choice. Personally, if it happens I may lay down my sword. I don't want to be in a fractured group. we're trying to build that which we do have up. No need to tear it apart.

If the knights can become a cohesive group with cohesive beliefs about what a knight should be, then I am all for keeping one faction. However, as I am being painted the bad guy for trying to uphold chivalry in my RP, it does make me wonder what beliefs the knights hold IC.

I don't mind either way, but one group that should be created is "Palace Guards". They work directly for the Sultana and they are aimed to protect the Palace. They cannot be predators, and they don't fit as citizens. Anyway having three groups of knights doesn't necessarily mean that knights must split. They can all stay in the same group. My preference was Templars, Hospitallier and Palace Guards.. but it could be other names for the first two.

oooo I am a guard now and have reffered to myself as "palace guard", I like watching and protecting the palace area so that would be a great idea I would be interested if possible. *smiles* But then again I love my role now...

A palace guard group is a good idea. My only question is how would the palace guard be able to defend a place that is a safe zone to everyone? I suppose you could make it a safe zone for citizens, palace guards, and perhaps prey only. And if someone tries to cause trouble in the palace the palace guards could tear them appart.

I always looked at that as part of the Guards role, we protect the palace and such and any time a citizen or anyone has trouble in the palace they call on the guards. I hope to keep that a part of my duty, even spoke with the sultana once about protecting the city and palace. We enjoy our job, even if there are few of us. =)

well, the difference between Palace Guards and Dungeon Keepers is : a) Palace Guards are part of the Knights, so they are the good guys. Dungeon Keepers are part of the Pred groups, so they are corrupted and vicious (well, maybe not everybody!). The Prison is a torture place, not a vacation resort! b) The Palace Guards will be hanging out mostly in the Palace - with an easy job - making sure that the Palace is protected, as well as been appointed by the Sultana and her staff for special and secret missions around Ireem. The Palace Guards mostly care about the the Palace, their treasure, their wealthy people. Their goal is not to protect the weak and needy, like the Knights, but they may occasionally been asked to help the Knights with it.
