Parents

Is this safe?

Absolutely. The students will be using the website primarily in class, well supervised, on computers with strong filters (too strong, actually). Everything the students write on the website either has to be approved by us before it can be viewed (Talks, Thoughts, and Class Project Pages), or can be deleted instantly if necessary (Comments, Wall Posts, Chats, etc). Only students and staff have access to the parts of the website that would allow contact with students, so they will never interact with anyone they don't know.

Did my daughter receive an email address to use this website?

Yes and No. We did create an email that the girls could use as a login name, but I did not actual need them to sign-in or use the email in any way. Therefore, they actually have no access to the email, it's simply used as a username.

Why can't I access everything on the website?

To protect the girls we most of the website can be seen only by "members" of the website, i.e. students and staff.

Can I join?

No; but if you'd like to see the other parts of the website you can have your daughter sign-in under her account and show you.

What can I access?

MAP, LINKS, EVENTS and DUE DATES, WEEKLY CALENDAR, Everything Under FAQ, WITWIGO

What's “WITWIGO”?

It stands for "What In The World Is Going On?" and it's a weekly Current Events activity we do. The site has a few (mostly student-geared) news feeds so that the girls can stay on top of "What In the World Is Going On."

Is there still a weekly message and calendar for parents?

Yes. The weekly message is always on the home page (in the upper left corner). The calendar is here.

I found a cool video/picture/website to share with the class, what should I do?

Tell us! Or tell your daughter to tell us.

Will my daughter have HW on this website?

No. Because not all students have computers at home, we are not planning on assigning online homework.

Why is she spending time on the website at night then?

:-) Ok, so that question is just us being hopeful. There are a lot of opportunities on the website for your daughter to expand her learning (and also to have fun)

My daughter has a question about the website that's not answered here.
