Scrapbook Project

Scrapbook Project
scrapbook-project
Hi everyone,

I'm looking for classes to join myself, and teachers in Montreal Canada and Nakuru, Kenya in a scrapbook project. We will use wikis to communicate and share our scrapbook pages. The scrapbook pages can be created digitally or scanned pictures of your paper project.

Scrapbook Focus:

Scrapbooks will focus on your country and the cultural backgrounds of your students. Once the project is established there will be a list of scrapbook pages/topics including: symbols, celebrations, sports and geography.

Scrapbook Timeline:

We will also establish a timeline for finishing scrapbook pages and posting the pictures/images to the wiki.
Kenyan schools are just starting back to school this week (September 7th)  while I've been back with students since last Monday (August 30th). We would like to start the project early October.

Grades/Ages Participating:  Participating Classes *Please add your class to this page & post your contact information on the Teacher Contact Page

I have a grade 4&5 class in Regina, Canada while the class in Kenya is a grade 9 Social Studies class. The project should be able to be adapted to many grade levels.

Online Communication

I hope that there will be opportunities for classes to meet through Skype, Group Chat on the wiki, blogging, emails and any other ways that you can up with.

Please send me a message at New School or email me at kimberly.brown@rbe.sk.ca
I look forward to hearing from many of you,
Kimberly

Hi David, I'll keep you informed of the project. I was in the Naivasha area in August with EBB. Did you attend workshops in Laikipia?
My 5th grade classroom would love to participate - we are a small k-8 school in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills of california. The kids here don't see much of the world, and I would love to broaden their horizons!
My 7th graders would love to join your group. We live in a small town about 30 miles south of Boston. Many of my students have never even been to a major city!
I think I may be interested too. I have two co-teachers that would join me, I just need to talk to them. So that would be 3 7/8 classes from Milliken

I am a gifted teacher near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. I work with children in grades 1-5. We are definitely interested in this project!! I can't wait to hear more details :)
Thanks for all of your interest! I'll be finalizing details for the project and posting the information. I'm planning on starting the week of October 12th after the Canadian Thanksgiving!
Kimberly's projects always rock! My kids are still proud of the work they did for the Olympic Wiki. They look forward to working with everyone. Oh - I should say, our school is on a tiny island across from Newport, Rhode Island.
I've added a school page and a teacher contact page. Please have your information added prior to October 12th. I'm looking forward to our project!
thanks for starting this page iam now at kinungi primary and wish to join your project
Hi everyone,
I've put the project on a wikispaces wiki: http://globalscrapbook.wikispaces.com/
and linked it back to this one. All of the student work will be posted to the wikispace pages. I suggest becoming a member of NewSchool if you aren't already. Please add your class and teacher info to those pages and I hope you're ready to start the project.
Thanks,
Kimberly
Hi Kimberly,
We would love to be apart of any project that you organize. We participated in your Olympics Project. You did a fantastic job and we will support you in any efforts. Please remember we are tiny second graders, but we will contribute what we can.
Best regards from the USA,
Bob and the Brianwaves
I think it would be awesome for your little ones to work with us Bob. I love checking out your blog and seeing what you and your students are working on! Kimberly
