If you think you would like to make a career out of online facilitation, this group could be your opportunity. Its fresh, its new, and it is open to whatever you would like to build into it. See the bi line to the title? Its not limited to the course participants. Go for it.. build an online community why don't you?

By the way, take the widget over on the bottom right and add it to your blogs :)

I have found that communities founded on Ning have not thrived for long - I'm not sure this will be different?

I have been using NING for the lead-up to the Mini Conference- so far I am enjoying the challenge- there seems to be more options on NING? We seem to be limited to short texts on this platform ? or have i not explored enough. Thanks to those who have joined my NING thing.....

There are certainly more features on Groups than on Ning, but Ning is more popular for now. The short texts are a reflection of our reluctance to invest the time to use all the features. Perhaps with regard to Ning, less is more. I dunno.. I am not a big fan of social networking platforms generally..

I had a play with Groups a few weeks back and will admit I gave up quite quickly, however I recently joined Ning, and agree with Debra, it does seem to have more obvious options. But I will persevere on groups as I'm sure you know what your talking about Leigh. BTW your Ning page is great Debra.

Leigh- I have worked out since writing my post that there is the 'twitter like' function- what are you doing now? PLUS this TALKS page - which is a bit more meaningful. I agree, time is the factor. As well, as having a purpose to contribute.....and I too am not a fan generally of these sorts of things. But its a good experience to contribute and see what happens on a course like this......(like the NING site I made for our Mini Event). I originally thought NING was going to work like a WIKI- it was used as part of the build up of the eFEST this year--- now I understand they had a WIKI and NING- PS catherine- thanks, I keep thinking of things I want to put on it to prompt the discussion, but this week has been crazy at work. I will delve in again in the weekend......I am even going to pluck up the courage to send some TWEETS out !!!!!

I'm not a great fan of Ning or this sort of platform. I find it difficult to follow what's going on - I find I loose track of conversation. Having said that, I don't have the same problem with Facebook. Maybe it's because I am more familiar with FB...who knows. For facilitating collaborative work I much prefer wiki, Google docs or a blog

I don't find this as well organised as other online tools, I have joined rather late and that may be why I am not sure what is going on. I can now say I have joined this platform and we will see what happens....

Hi there, we were part of a course - Facilitating Online - and looking into how this platform works compared to things like Ning and Facebook
