PWO's Editor Team

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Group area forum: http://forum.playerdex.com/Index.php?/forum/34-news-editors/

About the team

The Editors Group is for the construction, perfection, and distribution of the PWO Newsletter formally known as the "Passenger Pidgey".  In the newsletter, we'll be taking new and old players alike through any new information and updates that the community should know, from client and server updates, updates on the forums (such as the Tracker), or just plain weird information for your "lol"ment.

How to join the team

To join the team, it is recommend that you post within the group forum - a showcase.  This showcase will allow you to present your work while also getting advice from other members of the community.  You can find a link to an example showcase under 'Guides and Resources'.  Each of the roles below also give suggestions for what you should include in your showcase.

Roles

If you got any suggestions for roles then go and suggest here -> http://forum.playerdex.com/Index.php?/topic/12843-how-to-join-the-pwo-editing-team/

Writer:

Pretty self-explanatory here. Just simply write and review articles (especially your own) to be used in the PWO Newsletter "Passenger Pidgey". Although expect some criticism from fellow Writers as well. We're all here to help each other out and make the newsletter flawless. To be recruited as an Writer you'll need to write up sample newsletters concerning different aspects of the Pokemon World Online game in the News Academy and Showcase forum.

Artist:

This job requires a little more on the artistic side than on the writing apprehension side of things. The newsletter requires someone of top-notch artistry level for illustrations. In the past, this was done by pencil and paper. I, personally, would like to stick with old PWO traditions on this aspect and say I would rather have someone with pencil and paper skills than digital skills since it did work out in the past. Although it's not required. If you can show me a level of art skills that is pretty satisfactory or better in terms of promoting the topics covered in the Newsletter I will consider anyone of any art style.

To join as an Artist of the Editors Group, I'll be personally checking out artwork from the General Arts and Graphics section of these forums. From this, I will be asking anyone who I find applicable to such a job and talk with them personally about joining the Editors Group of PWO. Of course this is not the only way to join. If you can show me some good illustrations and artwork in your own newsletter(s) in your showcase, that will be a little added bonus in joining the Editors Group as an Artist. Of course it goes without saying your illustrations must be complimentary of your articles themselves and yet still in some way make your newsletter stand out. Even if your articles aren't satisfactory in terms of quality and professionalism, if your illustrations correctly do their job aforementioned, you might be selected as an Artist in the Editors Group.

Interviewers:

This is something new that I'd like to try out. Although please note that if this little idea of mine does not work well in tandem with the rest of the Editors Group, I will be removing it.

Anyways, what this is is a unique position within the group, most likely held by maybe 1-2 members of the group. For this, I will be needing members who are upfront and personable, having the ability to get along with others well. For this position, an Interviewer will be interviewing a certain member of the community and gain insight about them that the community might find interesting. I say this is a iffy project because I'm not sure how much of a following it will garnish but we'll see. The Interviewer will have to get to know a certain someone of their choosing of which they "interview" them (hence the title as Interviewer) asking such questions as what is their favorite color to what they think of this or that update.

Please note that if this position results in heated debates and flame wars due to someone's opinions I will immediately remove it. I do not need immaturity promoted from my team or to my team.

Also note that they will have the same powers of criticism in the articles written by Editors in the group for the purpose of reaching flawless penmanship in articles. Their interviews will be published in the newsletter as well.

Anyways, to become an Interviewer you must post your sample interviews in the News Academy and Showcase forum. You can interview anyone you want as long as they're a part of the PWO community. But please, I ask for your utmost quality and professionalism in these interviews just like I'd expect from any other part of the Editors Group. And, if you seem to be good at such, I will consider your joining and also talk to you about joining myself.

Comedians:

Well, I decided per zammbi's brilliant suggestion that I will also be taking positions for Comedians. This might seem like a funny name but what this is is for the development and the inclusion of the fun things in the newsletter, such as crosswords, word finds, comic strips...whatever you would like really to incorporate fun into the newsletter. Simple really.

All you have to do in order to apply with your fun ideas for the newsletters along with samples of it so I know you can both come up with new and fresh ideas as well as build upon them. Again, very simple. And please post all of this within the News and Academy Showcase forum.
