Last Jam at Ceol Mor for a while

From a musicians point of view, it was another great jam night at Ceol
Mor last night with guest appearances including, Stevie Smith -
harmonica/vocals and Ross McEwan, Cliff Maffia and Terry O'Connell on
guitars.

Some of the funky jams worked really well with 3 guitars, generating some
interesting rhythms and memorable moments

The house band was Josh MacKensie- Bass, Garry Munro - Drums and
myself on vocals and guitar..there was also a bass player who came along with
Ross who was really good(but I dont recall his name ) and a mystery drummer -
"John "

However although we all had a great time, there wasn't a lot of customers
compared to last weeks session, so the Sunday jam nights wont be
continuing for a while, which is sad but inevitable.

Many thanks to those who did attend the jams, both musicians ,punters and
of course Terry.

Hope we can do it again in the near future.

Last nights Jam in the Ceol Mor

Was a good jam session at the Ceol Mor last night and it was a lot busier than
the first one, which is surprising considering it was belladrum festival
weekend..

musicians who played were,

Josh Mackensie, who was on bass most of the night . some shit hot funky
jams on guitar and a few numbers on drums.

Garry Monro(ex Federals and voyeurs) who stirred up some nice grooves on
drums

Chris Maffia newcomer to this site and a great guitar player

Maria Hall along with her guitarist Hamish, who played quite a
few of her own songs and will be playing a gig at Ceol mor in a few
weeks

Stevie Smith who delivered his usual amazing harp playing.

Other folk included Ross McEwan on guitar,Daniel ? a great drummer
who's style reminded me of Keith Moon a lot .and a guy called Simon? who
played a lot of good Hendrix covers .

Hope I haven't forgotten anybody

Oh yeah and myself or course :)

There still weren't enough punters though, so lets hope that we can drum
up a few more for the next jam on the 15th Aug, to make it worthwhile
continuing.

Please Spread the word.

Tribute L-2500 Bass pick up rewind

Thought I'd a 1/2 hr job checking wiring on a Tribute L-2500 5 sting bass.It
was suspected that someone had tampered with it after returning it from an ebay
sale.as the coil tap switch wasn't working on the bridge pick up.

The guy i was repairing it for gave me a diagram, but it had completely
different wire colours and so I had to trace out the circuit only to find it
was wired OK but one of the bridge pick up coils was open circuit.

I removed the pick up covers and found a broken winding and had to hand
wind about 100 turns of the thinner than human hair wire, to repair
it..

4 hrs later its fixed :)

Nice bass to play but the wiring is like a mass of spaggetti ,you'd think
the manufacturers would have cut the wires to a sensible length for each
connection rather than cramming them into the space and the circuit board is
just floating about wrapped in some rubber foam.

also the pick up windings aren't laquered so serious vibration is likely
to cause a failure.

oh well that's today's rant :)

First jam at Ceol Mor

The first jam at the Ceol Mor last night went very well and the standard of
musicians was excellent.

I was well bowled over by terry's guitar playing.

The only negative point was there wasn't enough punters this time
around.Maybe there were a lot of other things on in town that evening?Anyway
hopefully the next jam scheduled for the 8th August will be better attended and
perhaps we might start at the later time of 8 or even 9pm.

Anyway thanks to those who did make it

I had a great time :)
