I've received my March 2010 Squidoo payout and as usual I'm including a payment
proof screenshot below. It's $111 this time:

width="320" />

The Squidoo ad pool payout tiers for March were as follows:

High LR: $16.47
Medium LR: $2.80
Low LR: $0.14

And the InfoLinks tiers were:

Tier 1: $4.48
Tier 2: $0.76
Tier 3: $0.04

It seems I simply forgot to post my February payment... How embarrassing. I've
also made a mistake with my "total money earned from Squidoo" counter on the
sidebar. That nifty new "My Stats" page says I'm up to $1,773 total which is
slightly more than I had calculated from manually adding up my payouts month by
month. Maths never was my strong side :-)

Should You Own Your Own Blog? Join the Debate

I've been following a rather intense discussion the last couple of days having
to do with the differences in owning your own blog versus using a free blogging
platform or participating in a multi-user blogging community. It's been a very
lively debate and quite informative from a technical standpoint. The two main
participants have their own definite preferences, but they've remained quite
gentlemanly in the discussion.

The bottom line sticking point between the two is retention of total control of
the individual blogger's content, layout, promotion, and rules. One prefers to
maintain total and complete control; the other is satisfied that each
individual blogger in the community that he established and oversees does have
complete control over his or her own blog (within certain guidelines). Both
have conceded, while standing firm in his own beliefs, that each method has its
benefits and that it's up to the individual to decide which type of hosting
arrangement is right for him/her.

So now I'm wondering: What do you think? Do you have experience, good or bad,
with multi-user blogs? Are you happy with simply using a free Blogger blog or
have you moved on to hosting your own? What is your preference and why? Click
on the comment link and join the debate.

17% Drop In Squidoo Traffic

During the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, I've noticed a significant drop
in traffic across all my Squidoo webpages. Seventeen percent! Quite a drop
actually, but in line with what I expected. I am unsure if other Squidoo
lensmasters have experienced a similar drop over the past seven days, but I did
read in the Squidu
Forum that a bunch of people were having this problem about a week
ago.

I do think that my own traffic will bounce back fairly soon (as it always
returns to about the same level and then increases still further with
publication of more of my Squidoo webpages. Several of my established pages
experienced drops in visitor traffic, while others have seen an increase. New
pages keep getting found by the internet and I see pages that were made a week
or two previously with 10-20 visitors each over the last seven day
period.

Over all, although the have been a drop in traffic, more is coming in and I can
see this increasing. Each bump in traffic a particular lens receives bumps that
lens up the Squidoo Ranks. I have a bunch floating around in the 3rd tier (and
I seem to be getting a lot landing in these money tiers), that adds to my
bottomline as far as getting money on Squidoo. As each lens generates it's own
traffic, there's a better opportunity to sell related items from the webpage,
while the visitor hopefully enjoys my content. As always, SALES are
where you will make money online at Squidoo.

St Patrick's Day Theme Added To Squidoo Themes

<a href=
"http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_3w3OTG6Y5Hg/S41V6s6gKwI/AAAAAAAAAok/Hw3ap4-wsKw/s1600-h/theme_stpaddy.jpg"

Take a look to the right and you will see a nice new theme that is available
for Squidoo lenses. If you have any webpages on Squidoo using St Patrick or
Ireland as a theme, you can switch the webpage into this cool green
theme.

All you have to do is go to the edit screen on your webpage (by clicking "Edit"
from your dashboard or "Edit Lens" from the published view of your lens), look
for the "Themes" button at the top on the right and by clicking that button you
are provided with a bunch of theme choices. If you want to preview each of the
different choices, click preview on each choice. Just click the "X" on the
preview pop-up. If you find one that meshes with your content, like if your
lens is about the life of St Paddy, or ghost castles in Ireland or provide
information about how to celebrate St Patrick's Day, just click the radio
button (the little circle) beside where it says "St Paddy's" then click
"Apply."

You do have the choice to make this choice Global, meaning all your
lenses will be changed over to this one particular theme, but unless you have
all your Squidoo lenses covering just Ireland and Irish topics, it might look a
little odd. Personally, I never use this option.

It's just one of many options you have to personalize your webpages on Squidoo
to match with your topic. Just about all major holidays have a corresponding
theme and more are being unveiled all the time to help lensmasters.

I guess nobody likes eBay videos or eBay humor anymore (and that is entirely
possible).

Or maybe I've just ignored my lowest-ranking lens for too long.

Either way, it's number 169 of my 169 published lenses. I just checked and it
appears that every single video link is working. That, frankly, is
amazing.

I actually kind of like this lens. So I tweaked a few things, put a poll near
the top, and twittered it. It'll be on its way to Facebook as soon as I finish
here.

Lensrank is 282,491 today. What will it be tomorrow?

Want to help bump it up? <a href=

Thank you to Matt Charboneau and the COSE team for organizing the social event,

Hockey may be Canada's game, but curling is Canada's life.

The game of curling was invented in Scotland. The game of curling was already
in existence in Scotland in the early sixteenth century as evidenced by a
curling stone inscribed with the date 1511, uncovered along with another
bearing the date 1551, when an old pond was drained at Dunblane,
Scotland.

Scottish immigrants introduced curling to Canada where it
thrived and attained a level of excellence that remains unsurpassed. Canada
currently has an estimated 1,000,000 curlers and is generally considered the
dominating force both in innovations to the sport and in competitive curling
success. I have in the spotlight a Canadian women curler - Sandra Schmirler.
Sandra led her team to the first-ever Olympic gold medal in women's curling in
the 1998 Games in Nagano, Japan.

Sandra Schmirler was voted into the Canadian Curling Hall of
Fame just two years before her tragic death from cancer at age 36.

Curling Teams Wearing the Maple Leaf in 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics

Cheryl Bernard
and her Calgary team will represent Canada at the Olympic Games tournament in
February at Vancouver.Olympic silver medallist Kevin Martin will get
his opportunity to go for gold at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Curling defined

Curling is a team Olympic sport in which stones are slid
across a sheet of carefully prepared ice towards a target area. Game in
which two teams of four players each slide a round stone by means of a
gooseneck handle on the top over a 138-ft (42-m) stretch of ice toward a target
circle. The object is to deliver the stone closest to the centre (called the
house). Each player delivers two stones, which average 40 lbs (18.1 kg) apiece,
often applying a curl to the stone's trajectory. The player's teammates use a
broom to sweep the ice ahead of the oncoming stone in order to facilitate a
longer slide or to adjust the arc of the curl. Blocking and knocking out an
opponent's stones are important strategies of the sport.
A competitive game usually consists of 10 ends. After both teams have delivered
eight stones, the team with the stone closest to the button is awarded one
point for each of its own stones that is closer than the opponent's closest
stone.

Curling: The History, The Players, The Game

Once a little known sport, played only in Scotland and Canada, curling has
exploded onto the international sports scene, culminating in its debut as a
full medal sport at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. Each year
millions of players in North America, Europe, Australia and Japan take to the
ice to play this fascinating game -- now an Olympic sport. <a href=
