Basically, when you kill a monster, you have a chance of gaining a trait point for that type of monster. Like, if you kill a monster that's kind of like a bat, you'll get a bat point. Maybe vampire point whatever. And when you do that, you unlock a tab for that type in the Trait Tree menu. So then you can get bat type skills, equips, and stat bonuses ect. What you can do with Trait Points They are used to get skills and stat bonuses, maybe some equipment. The menu itself would be very similar to the talent tree in World of Warcraft. When you get equipment from the trait tree, you have a chance of getting a copy of a skill you can get in the trait tree. It would be a bit more powerful than the original skill, but you can only use it while equipping the item you got the skill from. The stat bonuses you get from traits would basically just be passive skills. Every time you buy something from the trait tree with your trait points, the cost to upgrade it increases. Examples Getting Trait Points: You went and killed some dragon type enemies. Now you have some Dragon type Trait Points (TP), and the Dragon Trait Tree has been unlocked in the Trait Tree menu. Using Traits For Equipment: So you've unlocked the Dragon Trait Tree. You see "Dragon Wings" as something you can get with your points, so you spend some of your dragon points on it. Now instead of just giving you an item in your inventory, it's a spell that costs no mana, and it equips the dragon wings. When you unequip them, they dissapear, and you have to use the spell again to get them back. That prevents people from selling them or flooding their inventories. Ramping Up Trait Costs: When you spent your 3 trait points on those wings, you saw that the price of upgrading them was 5. You had enough left, so you upgrade them once. Now the price is 7 dragon points. Getting Spells From Trait Equipment: When you upgraded your dragon wings to Lvl.2, you saw you got a skill called Dragon Gale-T. The "T" stands for trait, meaning you got the skill from upgrading your trait equipment. You see that there is another skill in the dragon trait tree called Dragon Gale, but without the "T". the difference, is that the one from upgrading your trait equipment is stronger overall than the regular skill, but it can only be used while equipping the trait part you got the skill from. So you can use the normal Dragon Gale whenever, but you can only use the stronger Dragon Gale "T" while equipping the Dragon Wings you got it from.
