After experiencing this race last year, what would make you return for more pain
& punishment.?Not money, nor the prospect of gently massaging hands from the
post race physio, nor simply being under the influence of alcohol, but simply
the enthusiastic Tanker Rob's coercion. Team Tattenhall duly turned up ,
collected the usual fence post & set off over the challenging multi-terrain
course along the beaches & hilly hinterland. As before, we got muddy, well
very very muddy, tired & generally confused at the mental challenges(
adding up & doing jigsaw type puzzles don't feature much on our training
sessions). However, if it hadn't been for Rob's keen eye, Tim & I would
have ended up in West Kirby( after blundering past a sneaky hidden turn), and
we would never have finished in 2hrs 18 mins ( 20 mins behind the winners).
Other highlights included Tim crawling under a set of ever lower poles through
mud, whilst the marshall applied some additional pressure to the covering net,
three unbalanced TR trying to stand together on a minimalist post for 5
seconds( fell off a few times), and that positive surge by us all, through the
muddy cargo net at task number 2. Congratuations to Pensby for a superbly
organised race, although constant references by marshalls to "revenge" for our
Tough Team Race were a bit unsettling, and will be noted for June!! I would
strongly encourage members to compete in this challenging test of endurance
next year. Doc

Yes really enjoyed this race , crawling through thick mud , running on a sandy
beach, on rocks,in knee deep mud up an down steep banks and carrying buckets of
water up a steep hill . Wot a great endurence race from Pensby runners and a
massive goody bag they gave that must have cost more to fill than the £12 to
enter. I will certainly be up for this race next year and can highly recomend
it to anyone no matter wot leval of runner you are.

Another top notch day out although i was the weakest link of the trio, how i
managed to add 6+24+17 and get 57 is beyond me and that was only the second
challenge, running on sand in the sun must have made my brain hurt. We're
already plotting ways to get round a bit quicker next year but Pensby are a
cunning lot and you just don't know whats in store for each challenge, this time
we had to run out from the shoreline to the low water mark through thick gungy
mud repeatedly which was why i felt so shattered once i'd got home, another
challenge was as Martin had mentioned was a puzzle of bits of plastic triangles
which we had to make into a square, very frustrating that was

Just added the official finish photo to "general stuff"-we were certainly mucky

Must say that there are some cracking photos on the Pensby website, lilly white
legs at the start then mud covered from top to toe in the other pics.

More photos now in "General Stuff"-that mud certainly got everywhere! I think
there should be a caption competition for the photo of Tim drawing in the sand(
we were actually adding up some numbers after our brains fused).
