So, anyone want to start the thread about whether his death was faked or not? I definitely think the document was faked...

What, do you think he's still alive? LOL Jokes aside, what makes you think the document is fake? I remember you said the informant (Jim Moore if I remember correctly) was never found, but GDW found and even took pictures of him and his wife.

LOL - No, I don't think he's alive! But for some reason, I have a strong feeling that the death certificate is a fake. All that correct info? Middle initial, mother's maiden name, parent's birth places - how unlikely is it that someone got all that information correct about a traveling musician who carried no ID? Some of my best friends don't know my mother's maiden name, but someone knew Roberts... I never heard that about GDW. I had heard that McCormick tracked him down though, and he was neither a friend nor a relative... I think maybe he ied, and the document had to be faked for sme reason. Just can't figure it out.

Maybe he told the informations himself? You know, as he was dying. I really see no reason as to why they'd fake a death certificate for him What could be done is check other death certificates from the same area and time to see if it was uncommon to have a certificate with such informations. What do you know, maybe this was the norm.

Well, the thing is, he died suddenly. Plus, I did actually study other certificates from that same time period. It is close to being unheard of for the information to be that correct for a black man in the thirties. Th only time I have seen a certificate from the same era be so spot on was in the case if stillborn babies - and in those cases, the parent(s) is there there to give all of the information. I find it hard to believe an informant who was not a family member could get all that information right. Also in a phone call with Mack McCormick, he told me he believes the document to be fake too. Te only thing I can't figure out is who would benefit from the certificate if it is a fake. That's what Mack kept saying to. According to him, if you can figure out who would want to fake the document, or who would benefit from it, it will all unravel...

Maybe that guy, Steve LaVere, wanted to collect money from Robert Johnson's songs. So the sister he found was not really his sister and they faked the document (Steve LaVere could've gotten info from researching) so it would be a form of proof that she was RJ's sister. I'm really bashing LaVere on the blind here, but who knows Oh, and I though he died over 3 days? As to where I know it's controversial, but I thought it was estabilished he took a long time to die. Even the movie "Can't You Hear the Wind Howl" shows a form of note he wrote to Jesus - is it fake? Please enlighten me on this.

As far as I know, the note he wrote to Jesus was in fact legit. A copy of it is actually etched into his tombstone. Well, for a variety of reasons, I don't think the document was faked that recently. On the contrary - I actually believe it was faked during RJ's time. Reason is, there is a full investigation into the death on the back. Also, Gayle Dean Wardlow is the one who discovered the document, where it should be, filed with the Office of Vital Statistics. Though I am not a fan of Steve LaVere, and his tactics and money making schemes, I do not think he had anything to do with it. I think maybe RJ died, or disappeared, and when people came looking for him (John Hammond?) the document was created. I think he did die over a three day period. But Strychnine doses fatal enough to kill you would kill you in hours. Administered in small does would kill you in weeks, or months. So how did he die in three days? That's why I think it might be a compounded medical issue. I think Carrie Harris is indeed RJ's half sister. But the document shows her requesting a copy of the document less that a month from his death from Memphis. How did she receive word so fast that he had died hundreds of miles away? And even then, why would she request the document at all? If she was told bey a trustworthy source, or family that RJ was dead, why get a copy of the document? I seriously doubt this was common practice amongst blacks in the south. And even then - how did she end up with all the photos of RJ and such? Weird stuff!
