John, I am hoping to compile a CD/DVD containing photographs of TQF memorabilia
from the former museum (now in storage at RAF Benson), plus any pictures that
members have of their time on the Flight, including photos taken at work and
while on any visit within the UK & overseas. I have already started
collecting pictures and would welcome any other members contributions. If they
could send them to me for copying (with suitable annotations as to when &
where they were taken) I will return the items to their owners and will add
their name, if they are happy to, as contributor. The intention originally was
to allow those Members living overseas, and who have an unlikely opportunity in
the future to view the museum items, to be able to have an alternative form of
record to look at. I can supply members with my contact address if they email
me - details in the Directory of Members. Regards, Chris

I am fortunate to have two tankards not because I served twice on the Flight
but because my posting off was cancelled after the first tankard was engraved.
I also have one of the Queen's Flight scrolls which fitted underneath the Crown
on the aircraft. Just updating everyone one the Artifacts at Benson. They were
moved to a room attached to the Paint Shop in December which was kindly loaned
to us by Serco and the current manager Andy Breeze EX TQF painter.

I have 8mm Cini film of the flight , RAF Benson, sub-aqua stuff a lot of
material taken when I left the flight and was posted to Borneo. I had
approached several senior offices to see if the flight was interested but my
offer was not taken up all of the material is now in the hands of the RAF
Musium along with the copyrights. Yes I have takard, three difereny ties, cuff
links, ER Tie Pin in gilt and the wall plaque Just come back from 4 weeks in
Malta to find that Stella has now become serius with the type 2 Diabities and
her memory score is now 3/30 so she is no longer beng treated to stave off the
mental deterioration she is in Abingdon Court care home, the deterioration was
of course inevitable and expected.

I still have the tankard, framed photo etc . They were presented to me after I
had left the Flight and the RAF when I returned as a guest (TQFA member!!) to
the Christmas dinner. I also still have all the framed photos taken with
Various members of the Royal Family and the rest of the guys (and girls) who
were serving at the time. I still treasure the Clock (which is still working 23
years on) made by Todd Slaughter (MT fitter) that was manufactured out of a
brass suspension hub from the yellow aircraft fuel bowser to which he added an
engraved brass F658 (mt movement permit) illustrating how many miles I had
covered between Benson and Heathrow collecting the in flight catering over the
7 years I served. (does any one else remember any of Colin Bramley's creations
that were presented to people leaving??) Chris, I have some photos of HM's
Rolls Royce and members of the MT section (circa 1986) which were taken in the
MT yard on one of her many visits if your interested.

Clive, many thanks for the offer of a few pictures you have. Is it possible for
you to copy them by scanning and forwarding them to my private email address:
seajayharrison@tiscali.co.uk Many thanks if you can. I feel that pictures
showing the various work areas around the Flight bring back lots of memories
now that all is so changed. Regards Chris

Jim I suspect that the pictures you have of the visit to the Royal Yacht may be similar to those I have already, as we both went on the "Gribben Trophy" Sports Day the same time. Any personal photos taken around the Flight while you were serving on TQF would be useful to have copies of. Your offer is gratefully accepted. Cheers Chris |

John, looking at the Photo (TQF003) I believe the chap standing almost
dead-centre and slightly towards the back is John Barber (Supply) as he was on
the Flight between 1958-61. Also the person on the extreme right, at the
back is I believe Taff Cochlin (Survival Equipment). Hope that helps for
starters. Regards and thanks for posting, Chris |
